About Our Students

While many of our students that will be attending Heavenly Dream School's English revival camp and participating in our Hip Hop Empowerment workshop are native South Koreans, a high percentage of these students are teenage North Korean refugees. These students risked their very lives trying to escape, and if caught before reaching South Korea, they could have faced landing in a North Korean prison/labor camps along with all family members where they would have been subjected to torture, sexual abuse, medical and chemical experimentation, or even immediate execution. Most of the North Korean students are girls. They have a higher survival rate compared to the boys trying to escape because they make it across the borders being bought and sold in sex trade.
